wacky wednesday

Wacky Wednesday, what can we say?
Sometimes it's fun to dress a little wacky, different. Besides dressing funny, the preschool room was a little wacky too. We read Wacky Wednesday by Dr. Seuss (of course!!) And we did wacky art activities outside on the playground, plus we ended the day with a picnic snack on the campus lawn and a fun-time playing on the Hesston Mennonite Church playground. We got some strange looks.....like, What?!?! Oh well.
We are proud of our wackiness.

What is out of whack here?!

taco tuesday

Day #2 We made some quite terrific chicken tacos today. The focus was on eating healthy foods. We sorted food items into healthy foods and not-healthy foods during circle time. By the way, the children were quite the experts when it came to sugary, not-so good for you foods. :) However, it is quite ironic how some children think that french fries are healthy foods...hmm, if only.
The fun part about today was making our snack for art - how often do we get to eat our art?!

Chicken tacos:
1 rotisserie chicken (from Sam's - delicious!!!) cut into small pieces, diced tomatoes, sliced olives, shredded cheese, diced avocados, rinsed black beans, taco shells, and salsa.
Put it all together - yumminess!

adding tomatoes
lots of cheese please
happy eating!

yummy tacos!!!!
We don't have time for pictures. we are busy eating here.

there's always time for messy, slimy, sensory play
TR pm class eating tacos too....
It's a great day for running and rolling down the hill

In the stands briefly watching the baseball guys warm up for games.

music monday!

The first day of the Week of the Young Child was a hit. We danced to music, played various instruments, listened to Celtic/Irish music, played in slimy oobleck and made maracas! All kinds of fun stuff.

I played a Celtic CD.... the Irish music started out slow
(so we shook our maracas slowly...)

And then the music got fast and so it was time to do a jig!

Still jiggin'.......

Playing various instruments -
triangle, drum, egg shakers/maracas, wood blocks, etc.

Playing Ms. Larisa's irish drum, the bodhran

Now it's my turn!

All together now. Ms. Larisa played her mandolin.

family night

What a night! It's always fun to see family members eat together, enjoy the children's program, and, of course receive special certificates at the end of the night.

smile.

time to eat.

tulips

Tulips are impressive. A burst of vibrant color in Spring - they make my heart happy. I took these with my phone on our way back from practicing for family night. Several wanted to pick them and who wouldn't?

signs of Spring. oh yes!!

We were out exploring today. And what a lovely day to do so. Spring is all around us.
Thank you God for this season of new life!
Looking up at the beautiful white blooms on the tree!

Tulips!!

Forsythia!!

This is not an outside shot, but fitting for Spring. This young man "planted" lots of flowers in the sensory table. Florist in his future?!

happy, happy Spring!

Hoppy Easter!

This week was pretty special having special visitors in the class - real bunnies! The bunnies survived and most importantly they did not escape. The one white/brown bunny you see here is available for a new home if anyone wants to go down that bunny trail....ha, ha!

Thank you to Ms. Paula Miller (mom of a child in the TR PM class) for checking with her cousin who allowed us to borrow 2 bunnies for the day. They were a little apprehensive with little fingers touching them. :)

Choco is the black bunny and Balloon is the white with brown spots bunny.

This is snowball - this child's pet.

Snowball had an exciting time in the MWF class. He even listened attentively (perking his ears up and turning toward us) during circle time.
Great listening, snowball! :)

Have a most wonderful Easter!!
