Fire Safety Week

We have been learning about fire safety this week and had special firefighter visitors in both classes - 2 preschool dads! Very exciting.

Here is what we did this week:

Tuesday - visit from Firefighter "C"

Sensory table: soapy water!!

It's fun to squirt water with the basters and watch it flow through the water wheels.

Block area play: Pretending to be firefighters!

ART activities
Monday and Tuesday we painted at the easel with "fire" colors - red, orange and yellow

Coloring Jr. Firefighter badges

Cutting out shapes for our "My Fire Truck" picture. First they cut out a red shape and then black circles for the wheels, then yellow squares for the windows and finally, a skinny yellow rectangle for the ladder. They could add lines to the ladder and people in the window if they desired. These pictures will go in their portfolio books. (This idea was adapted from www.teachpreschool.org)

They all turned out uniquely different!!!

Friday Art
We used colored tape to create fire trucks. Pretty sticky but fun.
(This idea was adapted from www.teachpreschool.org)

It takes serious concentration.
Playing with Firetrucks

Girls can play with fire trucks too!!
Friday: Visit from Firefighter "Z"

That is one heavy helmet!

Thank you to our firefighters who keep us safe!!
I think we'll keep the toy fire trucks and other play firefighter gear out another week. :)
