Music Wednesday

Today we visited the "newest" building on Campus, the beautifully renovated Northlawn. We met Mr. Ken (Rodgers) and Mr. Matt (Schloneger) (both music instructors) in the Orchestra room to play a variety of instruments and then we went to the big black rehearsal/theater room where we sang a couple of songs. Our voices reaaallllly echoed (echoed, echoed) in there!
It was a great time!!!
First we played the bells. They made a high sound.

We even played a triangle just like our "clean up" triangle at preschool.

This instrument was similar to the bells but had a lower sound. One child described it as "jungle music".

The bass drum was loud and sounded like thunder!!
BOOM! BOOM!

Then we played different hand instruments - tambourine, bells, cow bell, maracas, etc. It was quite the noise. We did sing Jingle Bells with all of these instruments!!

Lastly, we sang a couple of songs in the rehearsal/theater room with guitar and piano accompaniment.

Mr. Ken can play the piano backwards.

We also danced in front of the mirror.

Mr. Ken showed us the replica of "Green Gables" - it used to be the dormitory and was torn down in the mid - 90's. The HC Preschool was housed in the basement of this building before they moved it to Laban Peachey Center.
A little history here - I was a college student when the preschool was in Green Gables and Ms. Tami was my instructor. Full circle -- never dreamed I'd be back here teaching!

They are all saying, Northlawn!!!

Watch a video of us singing (head, shoulders, knees and toes) by cut and pasting this link to a new window:
